Burn Injuries

Burn injuries are often extremely painful and can require extensive medical and surgical treatment. Burn injuries are normally classified by degree, i.e. first, second and third-degree burns. A first-degree burn can be very painful but only affects the outer skin and generally requires little or no medical treatment. A second-degree burn is deeper than a first-degree burn and can result in blisters and tissue damage often requiring medical treatment. A serious second-degree burn can lead to permanent scarring and sometimes requires surgery.

Third-degree burns are much deeper than second-degree burns and often cause nerve damage. Third-degree burns always require medical treatment and frequently result in the need for skin grafts. All three types of burns can be caused by direct heat from fire or a hot object, chemicals, explosions, electricity, or friction. Injuries caused by hot liquids are generally referred to as scalds. If you have received a burn or scalding injury caused by a product or by the carelessness of another person, you may be able to file a lawsuit seeking compensation for your past and future medical expenses, loss of income, and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been burned or scalded in an Accident, call The Scranton Law Firm today for a free consultation with one of our experienced California attorneys.
